Meet the Team
As chefs, we know that the recipe for success is to start with the best ingredients, balance them together in ways that showcase their best qualities and produce a harmonious combination that is a delight to experience.
We apply the same approach to building our team.
Head Chef João asks only the best to be part of his team – talented people who have the industry experience and creative flair needed to deliver the Aroma experience. Our hot young chefs are at the peak of their skills and are hungry to learn more, bringing to each engagement international experience and an appreciation of local ingredients plus of course their love of great food!
No matter which chef caters to your special event, know that they are handpicked for their commitment, work ethic, skills and passion.
Originally from Brazil, João studied nutrition at the Universidade Veiga de Almeida, where he focused on specialised diets and food preparation techniques.
After graduation, João further satisfied his curiosity and desire to learn by travelling the world’s kitchens. Working in restaurants in Europe and America, he quickly mastered the methods and styles of several cuisines before finally calling Australia home.
Here in Australia, he has worked in many high profile restaurants including Pendolino, Bells at Killcare and the exclusive Pretty Beach House.
With Aroma Catering, he and his team now express their passion for food by delivering customised private chef experiences and event catering.
Kate is a Sydneysider who worked as the Editorial Producer of a travel company for many years before becoming a chef. Through travel, she developed her passion for food and began an chef’s apprenticeship under Stefano Manfredi at Bells at Killcare.
Once qualified, Kate further expanded her expertise by moving to Europe to work at the (2 Michelin star) Restaurant Konstantin Filippou in Vienna, Austria.
Now back in Australia, she’s delighted to bring her many talents as chef the Aroma team.
Nikki grew up in Zimbabwe, where she studied culinary arts. She then moved to London and worked in a number of prestigious restaurants, including the Ivy, J Sheekys and Scott’s in Mayfair.
After 8 in London, Nikki moved to the NSW Central Coast to work as head pastry chef at Bells at Killcare.
We at Aroma count ourselves lucky to have her tremendous expertise added to our chef team and we know our customers will love working with her as much as we do!
Pedro is our music man, helping to harmonize the activities of the Aroma team by lending his expertise in event planning, production and logistics.
He also translates his passion as “enthusiastic foodie” into practice as an able kitchen hand, where you can find him helping with prepping, plating and food service for Aroma events.
Now settled on the Central Coast, he arrived four years ago from Brazil and is very happy to call Australia home.
When not in service, you’ll find Pedro either out surfing or at the Rhythm Hut helping to build the local musical community.
Todd originally met João while they both attended chef school in Australia, where they discovered a mutual love of simple dishes made with great ingredients, beautifully presented.
Todd is our “all-rounder,” the bridge between front- and back-of-house. Combining sous-chef talent with the subtle skills of excellent customer service, he helps to ensure great experiences, every time. And with over a decade behind bars (as a bartender) he is an accomplished mixologist with an ever-expanding knowledge of wines.
Behind the scenes, he’s also our comms guy and content writer, making sure the website showcases not only our food creations and philosophy, but the experiences our customers enjoy.
Originally from Canada, Todd now calls Sydney’s Northern Beaches home where he lives with his partner and two mad Dachshunds. His time outside service is spent surfing, writing and walking the dogs along the beach.
